Millie Achaa has taken over the reins to lead Design Management Unit following Shyamala Duraisingam’s relocation to Spain.

Millie’s expertise and skills are perfect for leading Design Management Unit. Millie has worked for years alongside Architects, Project Managers and Clients to enhance delivery and outcomes on a wide range of projects in the UK and internationally from concept through to procurement, construction and operation.

During her time at Adjaye Associates she led the Design Management of major projects including:  The UK National Holocaust Memorial + Learning Centre, George Street Plaza Building in Australia, the African Institute Sharjah in United Arab Emirates, Amaala in Saudi Arabia and White Chapel Estates, UK. As well as the Dead Sea Hotels and Resort in Jordan for Charles Hadife Architects, the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to name just a few.

Providing services to Architectural practices, Project Managers and Clients, the Design Management team bridge the gap between design thinking and Project Management, identifying and filling scope gaps, clearly articulating the brief and basis of design.  Reviewing contracts and appointments, tender levelling, establishing project timelines and programme benchmarking across all RIBA work stages are just some of the services the Unit provides.

Following her relocation, Shyamala will continue to work with Design Management Unit as a consultant on relevant international projects.
