Neal Morgan-Collins Director of Design Delivery Unit will be speaking at this year’s Tall Buildings Conference which takes place on 30 April.
The conference highlights the ground-breaking design, challenges and technological innovations associated with realising the UK’s tall buildings.
Neal’s talk will focus on The Atlas Building on City Road, London. At 40 storey’s The Atlas Building is the tallest building in Tech City and provides a distinct marker to the area. Comprising 302 apartments with retail, leisure and spa facilities and basement parking. Its location on a very constrained site and above a London Underground line and Thameslink line has resulted in a number of challenges that the Design Delivery Unit team have overcome to make this stunning architectural vision a reality.
The architecture clearly responds to the building’s urban context, maximising the potential of the site and location. 9 vertical blades are staggered across the site connected by glazed infills to provide floor- to-ceiling windows and ensure all residents have private outdoor space. The striking building makes a positive addition to London’s Tech City, one of the most vibrant and exciting parts of London.
